My interest in art began as a child. My grandfather was an artist and for many years I would pretend I was an artist while playing in his basement studio. My childhood dreams started to become a reality when I majored in art in college. In 1991 I graduated from The University of Toledo with a BFA in Ceramics and a minor in Drawing. From Toledo, I moved to Edinboro PA and continued my education within the art studios of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. I graduated in 1993 with an MFA in Ceramics and a minor in Metals/Jewelry Making. Rex Fogt, Donna Nicholas, and Lee Rexrode were my professors and friends that inspired me and helped me achieve my career and artisitc goals.
After graduating from Edinboro, I moved to Chicago. During my time there I lived and worked as an artist. I had a studio in Bucktown, did the art fair circuit, and taught at Oakton Community College and the Evanston Art Center. After five years in Chicago, I was offered an adjunct faculty position at the University of Toledo. I was thrilled to accept a university level teaching position and moved home. After only one year my path took a turn again when I met my husband (who lived in Cincinnati). My husband and I decided it was important for us to stay in Ohio to be close to our families, therefore I let fate decide my next career path. I applied for full-time ceramics position at an area university and I applied to The University of Cincinnati's Master of Art Ed program. I decided that whatever position I got I would take and that would be it. I found myself back in school again, and received my Masters in Art Ed with Certification in 2002. Since then I have been teaching art at Mason High School in Mason, OH.
I stopped making art when I moved to Cincinnati. Returning to school, getting married, getting a full-time job, and having a child kept me very busy for awhile. I began making art again in the form of jewelry about three years ago. I absolutely love making jewelry. It is a great creative outlet for me with the time I have.
